Digital Storytelling: Critical ReadingBook Group Websites
Students in my foundational English course, selected a "free read" novel from a suggested list which included both classic and contemporary fiction.
The idea was that the agency of choosing a text would increase commitment to reading and responding to it. This was work done completely outside our required reading and classroom work. Each group met weekly, in their own space and at their own agreed time, to discuss the novel, based on an agreed pace. Throughout the semester, they developed a website that included a blog about their reading experiences, as well as information about the text. Here are some samples from that digital project: eng201lhcrawdads.weebly.com https://sarahskeyeng201ah.weebly.com They also contributed to a class Instagram #hashtag "WeReadNovelsSHU" |
